TAYLORS MAGNER
TAYLORS MAGNER (Magner, or Maggie for short) is a 2020 Traditional Irish Gypsy Cob. Standing at 14hh, bred by Robbie Taylor out of his stallion “THE COMANCHE”, Magner joined our family Christmas Day 2025. Having spent the first few years of his life as a driving cob, Magner began his ridden education in October 2025 when we met him – slowly going through the process of long-reining, backing, before finally being ridden with a saddle in late February 2026.
Since being introduced to ridden work, Magner has excelled in Traditional Cob Showing classes, qualifying for the Traditional Horse Of the Year Show 2026. Due to his inexperience, we decided not to attend this year – but should we get lucky enough to qualify next year, we will make the journey across the water with him.
Magner helped to reintroduce me to the sport after 6 years away – after I lost Tobias, I had no interest in horses. But when I met Magner, that all changed.
BENVARDEN TOLTEC
BENVARDEN TOLTEC (Niklaus), born in 2020, was bred by Donegreagh Connemaras out of their stallion “Donegreagh Ganty Óg” and their mare “Medicine Woman”. Niklaus joined our family in July 2026, so is a very recent addition, and has settled in perfectly as a Wilson.
Niklaus has the sweetest personality and has already helped my confidence soar with jumping, I look forward to getting him out to a few shows when the time comes. Niklaus is my mums horse, so although I steal him, his job is primarily to help her enjoy riding again!
PREVIOUS HORSES
ARTHUR THE GREAT
Arthur (2020) is a 14.2hh, Connemara X Welsh Section D gelding who we owned for a few months at the beginning of 2026. Arthur was bought with the idea of him being my mums horse, and whilst I got on well with him, he just wasn’t the right fit for our family and for this reason was sold. Arthur is now living in England and doing well.
VROMY
Vromy (2002) is a 158cm KWPN mare. I originally bought Vromy in 2015, after a pony named Patch had completely ruined my confidence. I competed Vromy under the show name “Prepare For Glory”, inspired by the movie Spartans, and she certainly brought me that. Over the course of 2 years, Vromy brought me to jumping heights I had only dreamed of – and success at basically everything she turned her hoof at. However, she also brought me my first broken bone! (lesson learned: do not take a show jumper XC schooling and assume they’ve seen those fences at some point in their life).
Unfortunately due to my health, I had to sell Vromy in 2017. However, I repurchased her in late 2019. I then kept her until 2021, when I sold her to a teenager for her to have fun on whilst I had to transition from full-time education to adult life.
BONNIE SHOOTING STAR
Meet Bonnie! I only recently purchased Bonnie (February 2017), but I have known her for over 5 years now.
Bonnie (2006) is a 156cm Irish Sport Horse x Welsh Section D mare. She is jet black with two white fetlock markings on her back legs.
Bonnie is a little green (competition wise) for her age but has invaluable experience in that she was used as a fun horse and has been well cared for and treated like a princess for the majority of her life. I bought her off a friend and she was probably one of my best decisions recently. She has been a rock since my life fell apart in January and has completely reignited my love for the sport after I thought there was no future for me in it due to my health.
I am currently just enjoying Bonnie, gaining experience with her and next year (2018) will be registering her with Showjumping Ireland. Currently I am competing her on day tickets and in un-registered two phases and events.
Bonnie unfortunately sustained an injury in the field, and I showcased her diagnosis and recovery on this blog and my Youtube channel – Bonnie was sold to a hacking home in 2019 where she remains today.
TOBIAS THE STORYTELLER
Tobias (2006) is an Irish Sport Horse gelding by Cavalier Two For Joy. He has a heart of gold and is the biggest character you will ever meet – I call him my overgrown dog!
I have owned Tobias since he was rising 5, he was my first horse (that we bought) and taught me how to land on the floor gracefully, but also how to love unconditionally and he was with me through some very hard times in my life. To this day, he is my rock and enjoys cuddles and kisses (as long as you don’t have a headcollar to catch him from the field at the same time!).
Tobias was retired officially in April 2014 to hacking and scarce arena work after his Tildren/Cortisone injections wore off and we decided not to put him through the process again. This came after an injury in 2012 resulted in months of rehab and hydrotherapy, where he then came back into full work and ended up jumping 1m course at the interschools competitions.
He helped make me the rider I am today and will remain our family pet until the day he passes.
Tobias sadly had to be PTS in August 2022, after some neurological changes that impacted his quality of life.
KILONAN MAGPIE
Harvey (1999) was a 16.2hh Irish Sport Horse – and although I didn’t own Harvey, him and Tobias were inseparable.
Harvey belongs to my second mother, aka my mums best friend. He is actually the reason we all know each other, as he was brought to the yard for my mum to bring back into work. We’ve all been inseparable ever since.
Affectionately nicknamed “Moo Moo” due to his colouring or “Ulsterbus” due to his size, Harvey had the sweetest personality and a head the size of a dinosaur. He knew his size, but rarely used it against you – unless you were a man, then it was fair game!
We often joked that Tobias and Harvey couldn’t live without each other, and sadly we were right.
Harvey was PTS in December 2022, just 4 months after Tobias. After Tobias died, Harvey quickly deteriorated. They lie buried facing each other forever.
BLUE WICKED
Patch (2009) was a 15hh Connemara X Thoroughbred who was the first horse we ever purchased from the Republic of Ireland. Patch had ran wild until he was 3, and lived out his entire life.
Whilst Patch was an incredibly talented pony, not-so-affectionately nicknamed “Michael Flatley” for his ability to move all 4 of his legs independent of one another, but did not suit living a stabled life – even with turnout access. He would jump anything you put in front of him, when he could live out, but turned rather… disobedient when he had to spend a portion of his time indoors.
Patch was sold to a working hunter producer after only 6 months with us – most of which, I had spent on the ground after being bucked off!
CAVALIER REBEL ROMEO
Romeo (2009) matured to be 16.2hh, bred out of Cavalier Two For Joy.
My mum purchased Romeo as a rising 2 year old, and together we taught him everything over the course of the next 3 years. Romeo was pretty perfect – bar not really liking to load after a bad experience in a trailer – but I sadly had a bad fall off him when teaching him to jump, and could never quite get over it enough to fully trust him. At the time, I was only 15, and he was a lot of horse for me back then.
Romeo was sold to an eventing home in England and later became a hunt masters horse. I am happy to report he is now living happily in a perfect home, and even got to visit him in 2022.
GOLDEN GALAXY
Bailey (1997) was the first horse I ever had as “mine”. I got him on loan starting August 2010, and although I only had him for a few months, he taught me so much in that short space of time and truly helped me transition from riding school ponies to having my own.
Bailey was a complicated gelding, actually being a hermaphrodite horse due to having ovaries. Unfortunately between this and a broken pelvis as a foal, Bailey ended up retired with his owners before eventually being PTS.
